Public Outreach Activities
Outreach efforts began with a discussion at the March 10, 2010 VSPC meeting just before studies had begun to determine the specific area problems and potential solutions. Once the Project need and site details were sufficiently defined in December 2010, VELCO and VEC sent a 45-day notice package of information to the Town of Jay and to the Northeastern Vermont Development Authority.
A public meeting was held from 5pm to 7pm at the Jay Town Hall on January 6, 2011, to talk with neighbors about the proposed project and answer questions. Neighbors of the proposed project received letters inviting them to the informational meeting. To ensure awareness of the Project in the community, local media received a press release and advertisements were placed in local newspapers.
Stakeholders (landowners, local citizens, public representatives, and other interested people) can sign up for a Project Update email to receive notifications of the project's status. If you are interested in joining the Project Update email list, please send your request to sduval@velco.com.
